Conversation partner training

Communication is a shared activity — and when someone experiences cognitive-communication changes or aphasia after stroke, brain injury or a neurological condition, the impact is felt by the people around them too.

Conversation partner training may take between 6–10 sessions. This programme is based on evidence from UCL and wider research into Conversation Partner Training (CPT) for aphasia and cognitive-communication disorders. The focus is on helping both the individual and their communication partners (family, carers, friends) to communicate more successfully, with less frustration and more confidence.
