Speech and Language assessment and therapy.

I offer specialist Speech & Language Therapy for adults experiencing communication, cognitive-communication or swallowing changes after stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions or illness. My approach is warm, evidence-based and focused on helping you communicate with greater ease, confidence and independence. You can explore my range of services below.

Each person has an individual story including who we were before, during and after a neurological condition. We have different personalities, abilities and environments. We cope in different ways and have different hopes and expectations.

Holistic approach

Every person is unique and has their own challenges and opportunities. As a speech and language therapist, it is part of my expertise to take all these factors into account as I work with you towards improved communication and connection.

Communication  assessment

In most cases a detailed, person-centred assessment will be required before therapy starts. This ensures the best foundations for therapy and will include a detailed case history and assessment of speech, language and cognitive communication.

However, sometimes you may just require a phonecall and some trouble shooting to support you whilst you wait to be seen by the NHS, which I can also offer where appropriate.

Eating drinking and swallowing assessment

Specialist assessment and management for swallowing difficulties related to neurological conditions, ageing or illness, focused on safety, comfort and quality of life.

Lee Silverman Voice Technique
LSVT LOUD®

Intensive, evidence-based voice therapy for Parkinson’s and neurological conditions. Strengthen vocal loudness, clarity and confidence through the structured 4-week LSVT LOUD® programme.

Cognitive Communication Disorder

I offer flexible support for people with a cognitive-communication disorder (CCD). 75% of peole will experience a CCD after a brain injury. CCD is often overlooked because the sounds and words a person use seem ok. However challenges with social communication have a detrimental impact on work, education and social and family life, leading to poor mental health and reduced well-being.

Aphasia Therapy

Specialist assessment and therapy to support speaking, understanding, reading and writing after stroke or brain injury. Options include conversation partner training, intensive therapy and Musical intonation therapy for more severe aphasia.

Conversation partner training

Practical, supportive training to help partners, family members and carers communicate more successfully with someone living with aphasia, dysarthria and or cognitive-communication changes.
